Hey little dreamers !

The capital of Latvia and our adventure there deserve a special blog. Ah, beautiful Riga... We landed about noon in local time and we instant figured out that Latvia itself isn't like anything we already visited. After passport control and leaving RIX (Riga International Airport) we agreed on taking a taxi. It was a 10 minute ride to the Riga Technical University where we needed to be at 3 p.m.

We had already viewed images of statues and monuments on Google so when we checked in our arrival at University we decided to take a little walk and see why is Riga University so special. First of all, everyone there is very kind and wants to help. Second, everything is very clean and tidy. Parks around University are trimly and there is no smoking around public places symbols especially 10 meters away from the building. It's apparently something that works when you want greener surfaces. 😉

How is our time for the presentation approached, we became more and more nervous. Once again we repeated it all and then we went into the classroom. How this happens in life, when we went out to perform the jitters disappeared. We rocked!! We were self confident and sure that our idea will lead us to success. Even though we had 5 minutes straight for presentation, we were done for 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Then came the questions of the jury. They weren't strict and they all figured out what we were talking about. We were so proud of ourselves.

After the presentation we finally went into the city center. Fatigue and hunger made us overcome so the first thing we did was to sit in a local restaurant and order a big lunch. We also had a beer because it really was time to relax. After that we went on a tour of the city which is magnificent. You can really feel all those influences of the different cultures that once were here. Beautiful architecture and mix of different construction left us breathless.
After several hours of walking and sightseeing, we agreed that the next day we are going to Jurmala and that we deserve some sleep. We went to the hotel which was away from the center and finally get some rest.
The next morning after a hearty and delicious breakfast we headed to Jurmala. Riga Central Station is the main railway station in Riga and you can get to any destination you want. Our was Baltic sea. Distance between Jurmala and Riga is 20 kilometers or as we saw 30 minutes away by train. For a 1,40 e ticket it would be a shame not to go.
The trip was especially gratifying because the train had wifi so we could easily see what awaits us there.
Jurmala is a magnificent seaside playground with everything you need to unwind. Sand, sea and style. With miles of sandy beaches, swaying pine trees and deliciously fresh air, eclectic architecture and plenty of fun, Jurmala is a resort like no other. (Google said it 😀 ) And it's so much more... We were super excited about this. We had a great time there! Although the wind blew all the time we didn't care.
Every person should see Baltic sea at least once in a lifetime...
We were there for 4 hours and still wasn't enough but we had to return to Riga to see one more thing. It was Riga Central Market ! Our friend once told us that if we really want to feel some city we should visit the market.
There we saw different types of fruit and vegetables, sweets and local spices. We even bought some sweets but didn't want to overdo it because we had our plane for Moscow early in the morning. Sadly, our Riga adventure had come to an end.
We said goodbye to the city center and we went to the hotel. Even though Riga wasn't something we were long time dreaming of it was definitely something we needed in our life. We will remember this our whole life!
And if you don't trust us, just look at these pictures. It's something you can not falsify 😉
Thank you Riga, Latvia for this lifetime adventure !!! We don't mind that we have not passed on the competition.
We learned so much about us as a team and about our project. We also learned that you can eat fish for breakfast and it can be very delicious 😉 Until next time, stay such great example as one of the most green city in the world !
Fun fact 03: Did you know you can really fall in love with the city where you never thought you'd go?
